Learning Fair Fun

Colin made an invention for the Learning Fair at school which he named the "C.P.S.", the Cat Poop Scooper. He had a great idea for cleaning the cat litter without manually scooping it out. It is a metal cat litter box with a built in attachment that scoops the litter. By raising a lever on the side of the box, the contents slide down a mesh screen and into the trash can. (He had some help from Ted to weld some parts of it together!) It was a great experience for him and he had a blast putting it together with Ted. When the awards were announced and he received his medal, he looked right over at Ted and me as he walked back to his seat and smiled so big. He wanted that medal so badly. I am so thankful for that moment. So thankful!!!
Caroline did a study on cat behavior with our research subjects, Batgirl and Teddy. She found that the cats are most often observed sitting quietly rather than her hypothesis of finding they would be sleeping more often. She learned all about cat body language and how to interpret their behavior by recording her observations. She has told us the past three years that she wants to be "a cat doctor" when she grows up, and her clinic is going to be called "The Cat's Meow". Who knows, it just may happen....
Chase did not want to participate this year. Maybe next year---
